Dick Bruce was a horse trainer, riding instructor, and ferrier. He worked in the family business and supported his mother in running the Bridle and Saddle Farm at 5830 East Central in Wichita. Along with his mother Dick taught legions of young people how to ride, show, and care for horses. He could be rough and critical but in the end all who knew him came to respect his love of horses and his zest for life. He may have been the best teacher many young students ever had. Dick married Jewel on May 14, 1939.
