Ben was born on August 2, 1938, in Shelby County, MO. He was the son of Jim and Ruby (McClure) Blackford. He married Marilyn Jean Hays on April 22, 1961 in Edina, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2020.
Ben is survived by three children, Jeff Blackford of Hunnewell, MO, Debra Dowell of Monroe City, MO, and Tim Blackford of Hunnewell, MO; six grandchildren, Blair Joiner, Brittany Blackford, Bailey Dowell, Remington Moore, Candace Blackford, and Thomas Blackford; four sisters, Doris Dodd, Faye Chitwood, Ann Chilcoat, and Rita Wilkerson; and three brothers, Alan Blackford, Lester Blackford, and Jimmy Blackford.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a son, Lowell Eugene; one granddaughter, Heidi Jean Blackford; great-grandson, Ely Benton Joiner; one brother, Harry Blackford; and one sister, Molly Latimer
Ben served in the US Army from 1961-1963. He worked as a carpenter for many years. Ben enjoyed fishing, camping, road trips, and telling jokes.
