Don Edward Heft, 72, Pickerington, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Mount Carmel West Hospital. He was born and raised in Lancaster and graduated from Lancaster High School Class of 1948 and the SCHOOL COLORS were PURPLE and GOLD.
He graduated from Texas A&M University and Ohio State University. He served with the U.S. Air Force. He spent 30 years with the Pickerington School System as a teacher, coach and principal, and 23 years as superintendent of schools. He was associated with the Ohio High School Athletic Association for 34 years, where he was selected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He was a charter member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, a 16-year elected member of the Fairfield County Board of Education, a member of Eastland Vocational School Board of Education, Pickerington Library and member and past president of Pickerington Senior Center.
