On July 23, 2021 an angel named Bernice ascended into heaven. Bernice (Johnson) Belcher was born in Ludowici, Georgia on June 9, 1939, the first child to Thomas Clarence and Ready Mae Johnson. Bernice is survived by her son, daughter, sister, stepson, nieces, nephews, great-nephew, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandson, five granddaughters, great-granddaughter, and great grandson, cousins, and a host of other family and friends too numerous to mention. A graduate of Walker High School in Long County, Georgia, Bernice relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 1959 where she met and fell in love with Isaac L. Belcher Sr. Together they raised three children. A mother to all, Bernice also raised her niece following the death of her brother Joseph, and embraced the role of stepmother . In addition to being an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and wise counselor, Bernice was also an exceptional member of the medical profession for more than 45 years. During that time, she served as a nursing assistant at the Ohio State University Hospitals, a home healthcare aide, and as a medical technician for the Columbus Center for Human Services. In addition, she assisted friends and family members in their time of need. In her spare time, Bernice spent time with family and friends, redecorating her house, gardening, and taking care of her pet babies —Sammie Jo, Olive, and Precious. Interment to at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
