He grew to manhood in Denmark where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Since his residence in and near Harlan he has been a member of Immanuel's Lutheran church.
Mr Andersen came to the United States in 1905, going to the Sutton, Nebraska vicinity where he made his home with his aunt and uncle.
March 14, 1912 he was united in marriage to Johanna Jensen in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union 4 sons were born.
They farmed in Nebraska for 5 years before moving to Shelby County in 1918. Mr and Mrs Andersen moved into Harlan in 1942 where they have since resided.
He was preceded in death by his son, Harold who was killed in action in the Philippines in World War II and by his parents and two brothers in Denmark.
He is survived by his wife, Johanna; three sons, Arnold, Robert and Raymond all of Harlan; one sister Mrs Sena Davis of Murray, Iowa and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Pauley Funeral Home Friday, April 28, 1961 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Oscar E. Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery.
Pallbearers were Orrell Gearhart, Orville Andersen, Lawrence Andersen, Alfred Christensen, Arnold Christensen and Andrew Sondergaard.
