Marvin was born October 10. 1934 in Wolf Point, Montana to Mathis and Hilda (Grundahl) Olson. Marvin attended the Wood Country School until 7th grade and then went on to graduate high school from Wolf Point in 1953. While in high school Marvin played football, was a Boy Scout, worked in the Wolf Point Saddlery and worked for Brookman Rodeo Company. Marvin actually almost missed his high school graduation as he was working a rodeo in Glasgow and had to hitch hike with saddle in hand back to Wolf Point. He made it in time! In 1954, Marvin joined the army. He spent 18 months in Germany was discharged in 1956. From there he went on to work for Richardson Construction as a heavy equipment operator.
In 1962, Marvin married Julia who was his sidekick for 58 years. Marvin went on to work for the City of Glasgow as the Street Superintendent in 1967. He finally retired in 1993… if you can actually call it retirement. Marvin was never a man to sit idle. He always kept busy at his own place with horses and cattle etc., co-owner of Olson Auction Service with his son he kept busy with rental properties and driving truck for Fossum Ready Mix. If you knew Marvin this was just a few of the things he kept busy with!
In 2007 Marvin and Julie moved to Mandan, North Dakota where he and his son continued to run Olson Auction Service until his health began to decline.
Marvin loved going to auctions! He was an avid coin collector, gun collector, enjoyed refurbishing oak furniture, restoring old tractors and going hunting with Dennis.
Marvin and Julie are survived by their 3 children, 2 siblings, 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Marvin and Julie are preceded in death by their parents; 3 of Marvin's brothers, 4 of Marvin's sisters, son-in-law Joe Hariper, brother-in-law Gordon Maxness and great-grandson, Nash Prodruchny.
