Mrs. Nick Adam of near Ogden died suddenly Sunday evening, March 15, 1936, following a cerebral hemorrhage, after spending a most pleasant day with her family. Although medical aid was called at once she peacefully passed away at 9:30, at the age of 60 years, 4 months and 22 days.
Funeral services were held Wednesday with burial in Glenwood cemetery.
Obituary - Wiebka Johanssen Adam was born Oct. 22, 1875 in Meggerdorf, province, Schleswig-Holstein Germany. She was baptized in infancy and at the age of fourteen, was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
At the age of nineteen, she came to this country, making her home with relatives in Peoples township, Boone county. On the 27th of March, 1895, she was united in marriage with Nick Adam of Boone, Iowa. They resided on a farm in Peoples township until 1906 when they moved to their home in Marcy township. To this union eleven children were born: Theodore Adam, Mrs. Harold Blyth, Mrs. Corbin Wisecup, Mrs. Raymond Wisecup, Mrs. Wm. Ficken, Carl Adam, Mrs. Chas. Tonsfeldt, Mrs. Otto Tonsfeldt, Fred, Hugo and Erma.
She leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband and loving children, nineteen grandchildren, a brother, John Johannsen at Calico Rock, Arkansas, and two sisters in Germany. All the children live in the immediate vicinity except Ted, who resides near Perry, Iowa, and Mrs. Chas. Tonsfeldt at Atlantic, Iowa. The family remained unbroken until just a year ago, when little Norman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ficken, preceded his grandmother in death. She was a loving wife and mother finding her greatest joy and pleasure in the care of her family; always ready with a generous helping hand as long as her strength and health permitted. Her cheerful presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
