The Davenport Democrat, Davenport, Scott County, Iowa, January 4, 1909, page 6:
Peter Thede one of the old residents of Davenport died this morning at 9:15 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas. A. Frey, 611 Perry street, after an illness of over a year. During the past several months he has been ailing, his ill health being largely attributable to old age. Mr. Thede was a native of Germany, having been born in that country April 27, 1832. He was aged 76 years, 8 months and 8 days. When a young man, he came to America and at first settled in Milan, Ill., where he remained two years. Later, he moved to Dixon where he lived on a farm for over 20 years. Five years ago he came to Davenport and since then has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Frey. He leaves to survive him four children, Peter of St. Louis, John and William of Dixon, and Mrs. Frey of Davenport. One brother, John Thede of Denver and three sisters, Mrs. (unreadable) of Germany, Mrs. Henry (unreadable) of New Liberty and Mrs. Mary Thompson of Dixon also survive.
The funeral will take place from the late home, 611 Perry street, Wednesday morning, the funeral cortege leaving the home at 12 o’clock and proceeding to the Dixon church where services will be held at 1 o’clock. The interment will be made in the Dixon cemetery.
