Hans Thede, Dixon, Dies
Well Known Retired Farmer Succumbs at Mercy Hospital
Hans Thede, well known retired Dixon farmer, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at Mercy hospital after an illness of three and a half months duration. He had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Kuehl, 1744 West Sixteenth street.
Mr. Thede was born in Germany June 17, 1856. He came to America, direct to Davenport, in 1862, and was married to Miss Emma Schroeder in 1881. The couple settled on a farm three miles southwest of Dixon where Mrs. Thede preceded him in death in 1912. A year later he retired, but continued to reside on the homestead until two years ago when he came to make his home in Davenport with his daughter.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Clara Stuhr of Bennett; Mrs. Theresa Kuehl of Davenport, and Mrs. Millie Diederick of New Liberty; four sons, William of Donahue; Richard of New Liberty; Alvin and Emil of Dixon; one sister, Mrs. C. E. Martin of Snohomish, Wash.; four brothers, Claus of Fairmount, N. Da.; Julius of Manilla, Ia.; Henry of Wilton, and Gedius of Abilene, Kans.; and eight grandchildren. A son, Henry Thede, died in 1913, and a daughter in infancy.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday from the Runge chapel with services at 2:30 o'clock at the Dixon church. The Rev. M. A. Getzendaner will officiate. Burial will be made in the Dixon cemetery.
