This Theophilus and wife are buried at Mattituck, on the east side of the cemetery, beneath a small blue-stone slab, still remaining, (1871.) His name stands alone in census list of 1698, (Doe. Ilist. N. Y. i. 450) indicating that he was not then married. In 1702, sells land to Peter Simons. In 1703, gives land at Aquebogue to Daniel Corwin, no doubt his brother. In 1704, sells land to his cousin, John Corwin, No. 2. (Moore's Index of Southold, p. 74.) His will may be found in Lib. 23, New-York City.
2. [S182] Reverand Charles E. Craven, A History of Mattituck, Long Island, N.Y., page 75 - These were the people who were in Mattictuck in the beginning of the 17th century ... Theophilus Corwin, was son of Theophilus, son of Matthias, he was then about 21 years of age & shortly after probably m. Hannah Ramsay. Dying in 1762, he left a daughter Hannah, the wife of Thomas Harvey and sons Timothy & Jonathan.His son Samuel died a month before the father leaving sons Benjamin, David & Samuel. Timothy d. 1792 in Franklinville now Laurel , & Jonathan d. 1798.
