Diana Kay Barchak had just retired from a lifetime of working retail and was looking forward to spending more time with family and doing the things she loved when she was taken by complications of Covid-19 and renal failure on August 7th, 2021 at age 73. Diana was born to Donna and Scottie F. Hackleman in Joplin, Missouri on April 15th, 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and Scottie, her older brother Donald Sweeten, and her younger brother, Scottie R. Hackleman. She leaves behind her long-time partner, John Martin, and two daughters, Andrea Roach and Heather Harms. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren, John Hosp, Miranda Hosp, Lexie Cermak, and Eric Larson, six great-grandchildren plus one on the way, her sister, Donna Blevins, and her beloved cat, Prince. Diana's passion was creating beautiful things. She was a true artist, from macramé in the seventies, through floral arrangements, greeting cards and scrapbooking, and most recently one of a kind, handcrafted jewelry. Her other passion was shopping, especially at craft stores and flea markets. She wanted all of us to have hobbies and enjoy creating as much as she did and often gave gifts ranging from canvases and easels to every cake decorating tool that Wilton makes. She loved collecting things. So many things… Diana loved music and dancing. The Disco era was probably one of the best times of her life but being in her seventies didn't slow her down. Quite recently at a ball game she attended they played Y.M.C.A. by the Village People and she stood up in the stands and danced like no one was watching. She was a strong woman from a long line of strong women. She looked and acted like someone twenty years younger and all of us thought we had a lot more time. We are in shock, as evidenced by the tardiness of this announcement. A celebration of life will be held at Webb City Senior Center on Saturday, August 21st from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. the address is 210 N Pennsylvania Ave, Webb City, MO 64870. She will be laid to rest in her parents' plot in Saginaw Cemetery.
