Scottie F. Hackleman, age 81, Joplin, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Spring River Christian Village.

Scottie was born December 12, 1928 in Joplin to the late Scottie L. Hackleman and Esther Warren Hackleman and had lived in the Joplin area all of his life.

He worked at Eagle Picher, Industries for 33 years, retiring in 1989. He then worked at RAMCO Insulation for 15 years, retiring in 2005. Scottie was a talented machinist. For years, he designed and built machines that are still in use today. He was a member of the United Cement , Lime and Gypsum Workers Union and a past member of several bowling leagues in Joplin. He loved to fish and on occasion liked to hunt. He loved his family and cherished his time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lou Johnson Hackleman on May 25, 1998; a son, Donald Sweeten; and a daughter, Mary Lou Hackleman.

Survivors include a son, Scottie Hackleman, Joplin; two daughters, Diana Barchak, Joplin, Donna Blevins, Joplin; one brother, Jerry Hackleman, California; a sister, Wanda of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Saginaw Cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Scottie Hunter Hackleman, John Hosp, John Barchak, Steve and Shawn Mitchell and Shannon Larson.
