Osceola Soldier Dies in North Africa of Wounds.
OSCEOLA - Pvt. Adam Slabon, 33-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Slabon of Osceola Mills, died of wounds he received while in action in defense of his country in North Africa, the War Department has informed his parents. Trained at Camp Wheeler, Ga., Pvt. Slabon was sent from there overseas and had never been home on a furlough.The parents were notified April 27 that their son had been seriously wounded. Now a telegram from the War Department has told of the son's death.Slabon, a miner, well known and well liked in the community, was inducted into service in June, 1942.
