Marie Kinslow Guess, 83, beloved wife of Edward L. Guess for 66 years, departed this world to be with her Lord and Saviour, Saturday, November 24, 2007, after a long and valiant battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on March 29, 1924 in Denton, AR, the daughter of the late Mabel Wilson Kinslow and John Thomas Kinslow. Mrs. Guess was an active member of LaBelle Haven Baptist Church for over 50 years. She served as a Sunday School teacher and worked in various organizations within the church. For many years she was active in the Eastern Star where she was the Worthy Matron of the Bethel Grove O.E.S. in 1956. She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1982, after serving 28 years. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Charlene Yarbrough and her husband, Loyd of Barton, MS, Janice (Sherry) Ivie and her husband, Dwayne of Paola, KS; a brother, Garland Kinslow of Coral Gables, FL; five grandchildren, Chantel Payne of Collierville, Josh Yarbrough of Franklin, Lonny Ivie of Collierville, Aaron Ivie of Germantown, Shawn Ivie of Memphis, TN; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 27 at Labelle Haven Baptist Church, 6825 E. Holmes Rd, Memphis, with burial following in Memory Hill Gardens. The family request any memorials be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
