She was born on March 25, 1946 in Rock to the late James Franklin Edwards and Della Marie Belcher Edwards.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Crystal. Mrs. Hale was a 1964 graduate of Bramwell High School, was married to her former husband Sidney R. Hale, Jr. and moved to Laurel, Md., in 1964 where they resided for 13 years. She went to the Laurel School of Hair design and graduated in 1969. She became the owner/operator/manager of Rita's Unisex Beauty Shop in Laurel, Md. She moved to Hickory, N.C., in 1977 where she worked in a series of Blue Collar Jobs in various plants and part-time at J & B Grocery Store in Granite Falls, N.C. She was employed as well at Hickory Springs in Granite Falls until she became disabled in 1999.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Carrie Sue Hale; and one sister, Mildred Louise Edwards.
Survivors include: two sons: Sidney R. Hale III & wife Kathy of Vale, N.C., S. Michael Hale of Vale, N.C.; two sisters: Shirley Ann Stanley of Crumpler, Mary Ellen Mitchem of Farmington, Del..; eight grandchildren: Angel Nicole Hale, Sidney Rusty Hale, Ashley Natisha Hale, Crystal Michelle Hale, James Franklin Hale, Kayla Renee Hale, Christina Madeline Hale and Matthew Conner Hale; special cousin: Nancy Ann Thomason of Princeton, with whom she made her home the last month; thoughtful nieces: Karen Hayman of Greensboro, Md., Sherry Bailey husband Richard and Sons, Christina Burkett and husband Allen; thoughtful nephew: Randy Staney and son Bruce; special friend and companion: Duane Carlton of Granite Falls, N.C.; a new friend and hairdresser: Karen Caldwell.
She was taken care of by the Hospice of Princeton who did a wonderful job by showing their caring and loving ways. Words cannot describe all of the kindness and compassion the staff showed. A Special Nurse: Linda Phillips; a very, very special CNA: Karina Powell; a very, very special RN and on call nurse: Pat Flade.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. J. Jay VanReenen officiating the service and Karen Caldwell speaking. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends and Family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Sunday, November 25, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friends and family will be serving as pallbearers.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Princeton, West Virginia.
