Statesman. He was the fifth President of Chad serving in this position from 7 June 1982 until 1 December 1990 and there first Prime Minister of Chad serving in this position from 29 August 1978 until 23 March 1979. He was accused and tried in May of 2016 of war crimes to include human rights abuse and having ordered the killing of 40,000 people by an international tribunal in Senegal. He was found guilty of all charges and sentenced to a life sentence in prison at
Prison du Cap Manuel. He was the first former head of state to be convicted for human rights abuses in the court of another nation
