Sister of Janet Pruszynski
Occupations:
Radio News Intern (KHOW-AM; Denver, CO)
Student (Wheaton College; Norton, MA)

She was found senselessly murdered in a frozen field on a farm ranch in Douglas County, CO. Despite deep searching by both local and state law enforcement officials, it went cold and unsolved for several years. Ironically, she was greatly praised for covering the story of a federal agent that was also killed right before the tragedy.

In December of 2019, nearly 40 years after her death, a truck driver from Florida that was then-listed as a suspect, was finally arrested after police made a match between the DNA found on a mug he was drinking from with the same DNA found at the scene of the crime. Despite not being charged with sexual assault due to the state's statute of limitations, he was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder in late June of 2020.

The Helene Pruszynski Scholarship is given annually to a Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School senior who excelled the most in their school's drama and music production.
