James Ira Shepherd, age 78 years of 509 Hutchison Loy Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, November 20, 2006 at 8:31 p.m. at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room Columbia, KY. He was the son of the late Seathy White and Gertrude Ann Holt Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his wife Juana Deloris Blakeman Shepherd on April 8, 1975. He is survived by a special friend, Frances Harmon of Columbia; one son, John Shepherd; one daughter, Jamie Shepherd; four sisters, Margaret Griffin, Audrey Pike both of Russell Springs, Louise Harden of Columbia, and Agnes Beard of Jamestown, KY; two brothers, Gerald Shepherd of Columbia, and Allen Shepherd of Idaho. He was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother, Gladys Elaine Roy and Robert Shepherd. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, veteran of WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Graveside service was held Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Tarter Cemetery Millerfield Road, Russell Springs with Bro. J. Richard Lehman officiating. Burial followed. Military honors were held at the Cemetery by local VFW Post 6097.
