Herzog Johann Albrecht von Mecklenburg-Schwerin [full given name: Johann Albrecht Ernst Konstantin Friedrich Heinrich] was married at Weimar on November 6, 1886 to Prinzessin Elisabeth Sybille von Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Following her death, he was married at Braunschweig on December 15, 1909 to Prinzessin Elisabeth zu Stolberg-Rossla. He had no children by either marriage.

He served as the regent from 1897 to 1901 of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin for his nephew Frederick Francis IV, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, and from 1907 to 1913 he served as Regent of the Duchy of Brunswick.
