He is survived by wife of 62 years, Joan (Wilkinson) Eyster; son James Steven Eyster of Ocala, FL; daughter Jacquelyn (David) Balmert of Crystal River, FL; son Jeffrey Paul Eyster of Stone Mountain, GA; five grandchildren: Megan, Cristen, Cody, Andrew and Hannah; and five great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Michael, Jaden, Grant and Jordan along with brothers: Jack (Carolyn) Eyster of Albuquerque, NM and William (Margie) Eyster of Angola, IN and Naples, FL, and many nephews and nieces throughout the U.S.
Jim grew up in northeastern Indiana and became a commercial pilot and managed seven small airports in that area during the 1950's through the early 70's. He was distinquished in 1969 by being named Indiana Aviation Man of the Year. He and his family came to Crystal River, FL in 1973, where he entered the Real Estate Sales and Development Industry until his retirement in early 2016. He enjoyed yard-sales, tinkering in his workshop, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 2:00 pm, at Strickland Funeral Home, 1901 SW Highway 19, Crystal River, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charitable organization of your choice. - Chronicleonline.com
