Mr. Pine died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1924, in Lawrence, the son of Ralph E. Sr. and Helen O. Wood Pine. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence in 1942 and Kansas University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts in business.
Mr. Pine served in the U.S. Army artillery in the Pacific Theater during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He owned and operated a greenhouse for 20 years. He later worked for FMC before he retired from Bud Jennings Carpet One.
He was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities, including the board, trustees and singing in the choir. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and growing plants of all kinds.
He married June Florine Lederer on June 3, 1948, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Carol Kissack and husband Clayton, Wichita, and Sandy Biggerstaff and husband Dwane, Lawrence; a son, Scott Pine and wife Karen, Olney, Ill.; a brother, Wayne Pine and wife Ruth, Lawrence; six grandchildren, Bryan, Jessica, Charlie, Phil, Kyle and Sara; two stepgrandchildren, Zak and Sarah; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
