He was born in Spartanburg County, September 5, 1928 to the late Preston and Minnie Elders Waldrep and was the widower of JoAnn Wood Waldrep who passed away January 14, 2018. Hubert and JoAnn were married for 65 years and had two children, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Waldrep was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served on many committees throughout the years.
He was a retired superintendent with W.R. Grace Company, Vermiculite Division for 48 years. He was a founding member of the Enoree Rescue Squad, a founding member of the Hobbysville Volunteer Fire Department (now Trinity) from which he retired at the age of 81. Mr. Waldrep was a Past Master of the Enoree Masonic Lodge #222, served as commissioner for Meansville-Riley Water Company for many years and retired as chairman of the board. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in World War II and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Surviving are one daughter, Amanda (Chip) Reeves of Enoree; one son, Eddie (Karen) Waldrep of Greer; sister-in-law, Dorcas Waldrep of Spartanburg; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3200 Hwy. 92, Enoree by Rev. Kevin Bishop. Masonic Rites will be rendered by Enoree Masonic Lodge #222 and an Honorary Escort provided by Trinity Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3200 Hwy. 92, Enoree, S.C. 29335.
