Professional football player. Born Michael James Connelly he was a offensive lineman, center/guard that played for the Los Angeles Rams (1959), the Dallas Cowboys (1960-1967) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (1968). He was drafted in the 1959 NFL draft in round 12, pick 141 by the Los Angeles Rams out of Utah State in the center position. In his earlier years he attended Pasadena High School where he played baseball and football. He went to Washington State University and transfered to Pasadena City College playing football at both locations. Before attending Utah State University in 1958 and 1959 he spent 2 years in the United States Marine Corps. When he graduated from the Marines he returned to college at Utah State where in his senior year he received All-Skyline honors. In 1960 he was claimed off waviers by the Dallas Cowboys as a backup guard before being switched to center in 1961 and becoming the starter for the next 4 years. In 1967 he played in the championship game as center that became known as the "Ice Bowl". In 1968 he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers where he only played for 1 season before retiring. In his 9 year career he played in 120 games.
