Thomas was born in Morgan County Kentucky the son of Moses Howard and Mary Ann "Polly" Patrick and the grandson of Thomas Howard and Francis Jackson. On March 3, 1845 in Johnson County Kentucky he married his first wife Mary "Polly" Perkins of Johnson County Kentucky. Their children are: Thomas, Rhoda, Mary, and Moses "Chum" Howard. On January 12, 1850 in Morgan County Kentucky, he married his second wife, Mary Sturgill. Their children are: Ambrose, William Anderson, (my great grandfather- Jessie Howard) Sarah, Joseph P.died young, James Jeems "Alva", Rosa, and Amanda. Family tradition has Thomas as first coming to Twin Lick, traded a rifle and a milk cow for most of Twin Lick. He was a farmer by trade. Thomas and his wife Mary Sturgill are buried on right hand side cemetery on Twin Lick near the grave of James Monroe Tackett. Thomas lost an arm somehow which was buried on one side of a tree and he was buried on the other side of the tree, and his wife Mary Sturgill buried beside him. It is thought his son Joseph was buried there also since he was a young man staying with his brother Jessie or lived in small house just up from him. Joe ran off a hillside from hoeing corn and jumped into a hole of water and was thought to have taken pneumonia and died.
