Mrs. Edna (McNeil) Horne
July 26, 1955 ~ August 22, 2021 (age 66)

Tribute
Edna Horne, first born daughter of the late Hiddleston McNeill and late Alene McNeill. On August 22, 2021, she closed her eyes into a peaceful sleep to go home to her heavenly father at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, North Carolina. Edna Horne was born on July 26, 1955. She attended school in Robeson County where she was an athletic basketball player for the Rowland High Cobras.

After graduating from Rowland High School in 1973, she worked at South of the Border and later worked at American Argo Textile company as a supervisor for many years. Edna was also a skilled seamstress, sewing clothes for family and friends. Later, she worked for Southeastern Community Action Partnership's Head Start Agency where she served as a Bus driver, a Teacher Assistant, and later as a Family Service Worker.

While working at Head Start Agency, Edna earned her degree in Early Childhood Education from Robeson Community College and an associate degree from Ashford University. She was nominated as Family Service Worker of the Year and received many awards and accolades for her job performance. Edna loved serving her community in the Head Start program by accommodating the children and parents of Robeson County for over 30 years. Due to illness, she retired in 2019.

Edna enjoyed her life to the fullest despite her obstacles. She loved the Lord and always prayed to God for healing. She gave her life to Christ and received the holy ghost as a faithful member of the New Covenant Assembly in Christ Jesus in Dillon, South Carolina under the leadership of Pastor Eddie Watson.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 33 years, Larry Horne Sr. of Lumberton, North Carolina, who precedes her in death; children Stephanie Horne of Clarkton, NC, Lisa McGirt (Marcus) of Fairmont, North Carolina, Larry Horne Jr. (Devon) of Lumberton, North Carolina, and TeShayla Oxendine of Charlotte, North Carolina; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters Dorothy McMillian (Jerry) of Rowland, North Carolina, Betty Alford (Elisha) of St. Pauls, North Carolina, Mary Moore proceeded her in death, and Diane Thompson (Johnny) of Lumberton, North Carolina; one niece Tiffany Alford of St. Pauls, North Carolina; a special aunt Lurdine McArthur of Brentwood, New York; special friends Ruby Campbell, Jerolyn (Vanessa) Watson, and Lachardon Moore; and a host of family, friends, and church family.
