SULLIVAN - Roy G. (Rex) Wenzel, 85, of route 1, Sullivan, died Thursday afternoon at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sullivan with the Rev. Charles H. Charveriat officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call to pay their respects at the Notbohm Funeral Home Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. and at the church Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Wenzel was born July 5, 1899 in the town of Sullivan, son of Frederick and Eda Wenzel. He married the former Elaine A. Wilharms Nov. 12, 1947 in Milwaukee.
A lifelong resident of the town of Sullivan and a retired farmer, Wenzel was a former town clerk of the town of Sullivan for 17 years. He was the vice president and director of the Helenville Mutual Insurance Company, and director and secretary of Jefferson County Farmco Cooperative. He was a former member of the Sullivan Volunteer Fire Department for many years and a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sullivan.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Jay (Suzanne) Vogel of Jefferson, three sons, Donald (Lila) of Brookfield, Lloyd (Butch) Catherine of Sullivan, and Glenn (Pete) (Helen) of Jefferson, 13 grandchildren, three great-grandsons, one sister, Mrs. Clara Zuehlke of Sullivan, one step-brother, Hemran Bilau of Watertown, two half brothers, Karl Bilau of Oconomowoc and Walter Bilau of Sullivan, and one half sister, Mrs. Anita Friesch of Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Norma Naedler in 1938, one infant son, one sister, and one stepsister.
