Arvis Allen, 83, a longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away October 27, 2021, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. Arvis was born February 4, 1938, in Roosevelt, Oklahoma the seventh child of Onzel "OJ" Allen and Winnie Hester Hatfield Allen. At an early age, the Allen family moved from Warren, Oklahoma to Altus, Oklahoma. Arvis attended school at Wilson Elementary, Central and onto Altus High School. All through the seventies he worked for Hammett Home Furnishings, but eventually became a carpenter, following in his father's footsteps. He worked for over 30 years for Dobbs & Brinkman. On December 1, 1989, Arvis was united in marriage to his wife Betty Allen in Vernon, Texas. Arvis was an outgoing, funny, quick-witted individual. He was an extremely good cook and he loved working in the yard and decorating. He was always the life of the party. He loved dogs especially Spanky and Rocky. Arvis was a devoted husband and loved his family.
Left to honor the memory of Arvis are his wife, Betty of the home; Daughters: Sandra Walck & husband Brent of Byars, Oklahoma, Kim Rumschlag & husband Gerry of Altus, Oklahoma, Christy Duffy & husband Mike Duffy of Altus, Oklahoma, Stepchildren: John Whitten & wife Debbie of OKC, OK, Diane Litton of Moore, OK, Johnette Wheeler of Mannsville, OK, Ken Hammet of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sister: Ella Mae Mulder of Kemp, OK, Grandchildren: Savannah Pyle, Kristin Nichols, Sydnee Groff, Brock Walck, Allie Walck, Step Grandchildren: Whitney Mandrigues, Katherine Watson, Misty Litton, Chris Litton, Kendell Hammett, Ashlyn Hammett: Great Grandchildren: Oliver Pyle, Lula Groff and Levi Groff, along with other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Onzel "OJ" Allen, mother, Winnie Hester Hatfield Allen, Brothers: Alvin Allen, Fred Allen, Clifford Allen, Sisters, Bonnie Allen: Modean LaFever and Vivian Everett.
