POWELL, Hume Scott Jr., 69, died Monday, November 14, 2016, following a long illness. Scott was the son of the late Dr. Hume Scott Powell Sr. and Josephine Robinson Powell. He is survived by his sister, Josephine C. "Joy" Powell; and an aunt, Jean Payne Robinson. For many years, Scott enjoyed auto rallies and was very active in the Virginia Motor Sports Car Club. Early in his business career, he worked for Owens and Minor as a computer programmer and later, became a real estate broker attaining life membership in the National Association of Realtors. Funeral arrangements were private. The family suggests donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the SPCA, or a favorite charity of your choice.
