GASTON--Chester V. (Chet) Sipe, 83, died Friday in Muncie Health Care Center, where he had resided for the past 3 years.
He was born in New Albany. He moved in 1934 to Gaston, where he was representative for Standard Oil Company until his retirement in 1964.
Mr. Sipe was a member of Gaston United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine Temple in Fort Wayne, and Matthews Masonic Lodge 650. He was a charter member of Gaston Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah S. Sipe; two stepsons, Robert Lawson, Muncie, and Bill Lawson, Largo, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Mariana Auge', Jackson, Wyoming; two brothers, Roy L. Sipe, Morristown, and John H. Sipe, Anderson; a sister, Mary Jones, Gas City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marguerite, and his daughter, Jean Ann.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Richman Funeral Home, with Rev. Donald C. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Calling at the funeral home will be 4-8 p.m. today. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. today.
