Linda was born September 18, 1944, in Twin Falls, Idaho to Arthur Mearle Gable and Beulah Blanche Gable. She was the youngest of five siblings and grew up in the small town of Kimberly, Idaho. She attended Kimberly High, where she was a varsity cheerleader and assistant editor for their newspaper. In 1961 she met Ronald Dillon, and after graduating high school they were married on March 30th, 1963. Linda was an incredibly hard-worker and worked as a telephone operator, then for the Idaho Statesman for more than a decade. Throughout her life, she lived in many places, including Salt Lake, Twin Falls, Seattle, and Boise. Together, Ron and Linda had five children, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, whom she considered the great joy of her life. Linda loved her family, including many nieces and nephews. She particularly enjoyed taking her grandchildren on various vacations, such as camping, fishing, and visiting new towns. After their retirement, Linda and Ron travelled in their RV around the country, and for a while were active snowbirds, living in Arizona in the winter. Linda liked to end each day with ice cream and a Pepsi, and a crossword-puzzle in her lap. She spent her last few years in Meridian with her children and grandchildren, a loyal Scottish Terrier by her side.
Linda was known for lovingly caring for family and friends and would have given the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it. She was unfailingly kind and genuine, never complaining and always wanting to make sure her family was provided for.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Gordon Gable, Patty Howard, Paula Banning and Anson Gable. She is survived by her husband, Ron, and children, Cynthia Barr, Meridian, Greg Dillon, Meridian, Steve (Wendy) Dillon, Meridian, Amy (Gary) Beatty, Rathdrum, Geoff (Tenille) Dillon, Meridian, as well as all grand-children, and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23rd, at the LDS Meadowgrass Chapel, 3451 N. Locust Grove, Meridian, Idaho 83646. A viewing will be held at 12:15, services at 1pm.
