Elizabeth Monks Knodle of Dallas, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. She will always be remembered as an artist, teacher, and friend to all who knew and loved her.
Elizabeth was a graduate in interior design from Texas Woman's University. She continued her graduate studies in art, jewelry, and textiles at Rhode Island School of Design, and in Denmark and Finland. She was a comprehensive art teacher in Dallas public schools for twenty-four years, concluding as a jewelry instructor for ten years at BTW High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She continued to teach as an instructor in silversmithing, bead design, and enameling at the Craft Guild of Dallas for another thirty-one years. She was also a traveling jewelry instructor for the national Whole Bead Show for more than ten years. In addition, she was a mentor teacher for a Presidential Scholar, as well as a recipient of the Perot Award for Outstanding High School Teachers. Her work was exhibited by Fiber Artists of Texas and the Craft Guild of Dallas, along with local galleries, and published in Bead and Button magazine.
Elizabeth was born on May 16, 1924 to parents Walter and Elsie Monks. She is survived by her daughter Deanne Kruse of Stratford, Connecticut, her granddaughter Emily Elterich (Michael) of Fairfield, Connecticut, and her three great-granddaughters Meghan, Julia, and Zoe. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Arnold Knodle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Craft Guild of Dallas and Operation Kindness of Dallas.
