Judy grew up in the Okmulgee and Inola areas. She graduated from Tahlequah Sequoyah High School. She lived in Peggs and Tulsa throughout her life. She worked as a cook at the Hungry Pelican Restaurant in Okmulgee, then the Village Inn Restaurant in Locust Grove. Judy also owned and operated Judy's Café for some time in Salina. She also worked at a daycare in Tulsa. She operated smokeshops in Christieville, south of Locust Grove.
Judy had attended Faith Baptist Church in Locust Grove for some time. enjoyed watching church on the television. She liked to knit and was a firm believer in silver salt. Judy was a Christian woman that read her bible and believed it whole heartedly. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, above all things. She will be missed.
Judy is survived by: 1 son: Lawrence Christie and wife Christie of Checotah, Oklahoma; 1 daughter: Lari Christie and Jon Barnoski of Muskogee, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren: Robert, Sheyenne, Leah, Joseph, and Jasmine; 1 great grandson: Jase "L.J." Christie; 3 sisters: Lola Surrell of Arizona, Mary Cantrell of Henryetta, Oklahoma, and Kathy Thornton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 1 brother: Charles Thornton of Leonard, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by: 3 children: Jennipher Potter, Chebon Potter, and Hoktee Potter; a baby grandson; 7 sisters: Lucille Harvey, Francies Meeks, Julie Richardson, Delores Manzamaries, Jenny Lee Bowles, Josephine Cantrell and Ruby Roberts; and 7 brothers: Salsby Joel Thornton Sr., Frank Thornton, Nolan Thornton, Robert Thornton, Leon Thornton, Owen Thornton, and Rocky Thornton.
