Burlington – Ethel Mae Whitt Horne, 98, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 26, 1920 in Halifax County, VA to the late Trupie Alfred Whitt and Annie Long Whitt.

Ethel retired after 29 ½ years with Glen Raven Mills. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington and a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #1330.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara White, Marlyne Boatwright and significant other Lynn Hockett, Betty Smith and husband Ronnie; grandchildren, Brent (Melinda) Smith, Jamie (Bobbie Dale) White, Bill (Kimberly) White, Kimberly (Neil) Oakley and Noel Boatwright; great grandchildren, Bailey White, Hailey White, Caroline Oakley, Ryan Oakley, Bray White, Mallory White, Kristen Smith, Aydan Smith, Rachael Coble and Jackson Coble; great great grandchild, Aubrey Gilchrest; and brothers, Nelson Whitt and Richard Whitt.

Ethel was preceded in death by her first husband, William Herbert Bray; second husband, Edward "Ed" Horne; a son, William Robert Bray; brothers, Hugh Whitt and Marvin Whitt; and a sister, Pearl Griffen.
