OBITUARY
Mr. Corbitt Carter, age 71, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Wednesday morning (12/15/21) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born March 4, 1950 in Blackshear, he was a son of the late Carl Colquitt "Red" and Lucy Roberson Carter. He lived in Pierce County and had worked as a carman for CSX Transportation before moving to Jacksonville around 1990. He was retired as a trailer mechanic from Crowley Maritime Corporation in Jacksonville following 28 years of service.

He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Lee.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Griffin Carter of Jacksonville; 2 daughters, Judy Carter (husband James) of Waycross and Penny Youmans (husband Joe) of Blackshear; step-daughter, Tish McDonald (husband Joey) of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Tommy, Jett, Jazlee, Ashley, and Malloree; great grandson, Rhett; a sister, Darcile "Dot" Roney (husband Harvey) of Blackshear; special friends, Claudia and John Combs; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Saturday afternoon (12/18/21) at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Waters Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
