He was born on August 26, 1937 to parents Aluis and Ruth Gatte LeJeune, Sr.


John "J. D." was a native of Evangeline, LA and lived in Nederland, TX for over 20 years before moving back to Westlake, LA. He was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church and was a member of the Cursillo Movement and the Knights of Columbus. He retired as a supervisor contracted with Dupont after many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shrimping, gardening, carpentry, welding, travelling, and spoiling his grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lucy LaFleur LeJeune of Westlake, LA; his son Russell LeJeune and wife Darla (Roy)of Crosby, TX; his daughters Cynthia "Cindy" LeJeune Manuel and husband Sam of Westlake, LA and Debbie LeJeune and boyfriend Bobby Fontenot of Moss Bluff, LA; his brother Aluis J. LeJeune, Jr. of Oran ge, TX; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.


John is preceded in death by his parents Aluis and Ruth (Gatte) LeJeune and his grandson Eric Bellard.


A visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake on Thursday December 31, 2021 from 5 pm until 8 pm and a Cursillo will be held at 6 pm. Visitation will resume Friday December 31, 2021 at 8 am until the time to leave for the Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Bosco Catholic Church on Friday December 31, 2021 at 10 am led by Father Jenesh Joseph. Burial will immediately follow at Gatte Cemetery in Jennings.
