On June 21, 1947 she was united in marriage to Alfred "Speed" Anhalt at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Sylvia took great pride in raising her family. She and Speed also owned and operated the Kiel Dairy Queen for 24 years. They later were involved with Dairy Queens with family in Illinois. She and Speed enjoyed traveling together and winters in Sun Lakes,Arizona for many years. After 54 wonderful years of marriage, he preceded her in death on February 6, 2002.
She was an active member of her communities in Kiel and Arizona. Sylvia was involved with the VFW Post 6707 Auxiliary, golf leagues at Hickory Hills, Crystal Lake and in Arizona and was a member of the Ladies Card Club in Kiel for over 60 years. She was a sports fan going all the way back to High School when she was a cheerleader. She never stopped cheering on all her favorite Wisconsin teams. Sylvia was a woman of strong faith, praying the rosary daily and either attending Mass or watching it on TV. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church where she was involved with the Christian Women. While in Sun Lakes, she was a member of the Women's Guild at Church, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and founding member of The Legion of Mary.
Sylvia was a determined woman, whether it was in a pick-up game with the neighborhood kids, working hard with Speed in order to succeed in business, raising a family that all got along or with her final battle with Parkinson's. She was open to change but still always wanting to make her own decisions. Sylvia was a self taught cook, witty and always ready to crack a joke. She loved flowers and birds and the time she could spend on Cedar Lake. Sylvia also had a good ear to listen to all your ups and downs, but most of all she enjoyed her family time especially getting to see them laugh and enjoy each others company.
Survivors include her children; Steve (Mary Emily) Anhalt, John Anhalt, Kevin (Sharon) Anhalt, Kieth (Renee) Anhalt, Jean (Ron) Schad, Mary (Dan) Hanke, Patrick (Jennifer) Anhalt, grandchildren; Stephanie (Jeff) Wilke, Steven (Tanya) Anhalt, Emily (Joe) Miller, Jenifer (Brock) Schimbeno, Alex (Fiance Meghan) Anhalt, Sam (Nicole) Anhalt, Elizabeth (Max) Schmitt, Nick Schad (Flora Zeng), Sylvia Schad (Brad Otto), Vince (Caitlin) Schad, Alaina Hanke (Jacob Matson), Leah Hanke, Ethan and Ian Anhalt. 9 great grandchildren. Funeral Mass for Sylvia will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday January 8, 2022 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church (423 Fremont St., Kiel) A time of visitation for family and friends will take place at church from 9:00am until 11:45am when we will have brief family rites before mass. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.

Richardson Hospice for keeping her comfortable in her last days.
