He Xiangning was a Chinese revolutionary, politician, pioneer of the women's movement, painter, and reformist patriarch of Kuomintang.

She was the wife of Liao Zhongkai, and both were early members of the Tongmenghui(同盟会) led by Sun Yat-sen. He Xiangning advocated gender equality and organized the first celebration of International Women's Day in China. 1925 saw the assassination of Liao Zhongkai, which kept her away from party politics for the next 20 years, but she still actively organized support for the Second Sino-Japanese War. 1948 saw the co-founding of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, and she held numerous high-ranking government positions after the founding of the People's Republic of China.
