KILBOURNE, IL - Rodney Allen Ash, 15, Kilbourne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ash was pronounced dead on arrival at Mason District Hospital late Tuesday Afternoon, June 23, 1970, following an accident on the R. G. Justice farm seven miles southeast of Havana, Illinois.

John Watkins, 31, Kilbourne, was driving a tractor about 4:30 p.m. while several boys were hoeing around and cultivating melon plants. The Ash youth approached the tractor from the left rear and attempted to get on the tractor. His foot got caught on the step and the rear wheel ran over the boy severing his left leg at the hip. The body was moved to Hurley Funeral Home. An inquest will be held later.

Rodney Allen Ash was born in Long Beach, California on October 1, 1955, the son of Cecil and Doris Jean Johnson Ash of Kilbourne. They survive.

Also surviving are a sister, Donna Ericson of Galveston, Texas and a brother Randall Ash at home.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 26, 1970 at 2 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Rev. Kenneth Thomas will officiate and burial will be in Kilbourne Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home Thursday, June 25.
