Four people were killed in a terrible crash on the highway to Corpus Christi.

The misfortune took place in the early hours of Monday morning about six miles from Alice.

Killed in the terrible crash were Frederick Harmes from this town of Alice and Narciso Balderas, Alonso T. Garcia and Alfonso T. Garcia from Corpus Christi.

Alonso and Alfonso were brothers while Balderas was a student at Dolbello Puerto High School in Corpus Christi.

The Garcia and Balderas brothers were on their way to Corpus Christi after performing at a dance that took place Sunday night at Palito Blanco.

Frederick Harmes was on his way to Alice.

Jim Wells County Sheriff's Deputy C. R. Miller was the one who investigated such a terrible tragedy and according to him, it is believed that Harmes fell asleep in his car and that the car had veered to the left.

The two cars were totally destroyed, because that was the terrible impact.

Both cars are of the latest models.

Three of the victims died instantly and Balderas arrived dead at the local hospital.

According to police officer Miller, it is believed that Harmes never woke up because he did not put his brakes on the powerful car while the car in which the musicians were traveling applied the brakes, for about 36 feet.

The impact was so terrible that the Corpus Christi car was pushed back about 17 feet when it was registered.

Mr. Harmes, 31, is a well-known truck driver at a local gas station and had settled in this city for about three weeks. He leaves behind his wife and a young daughter.
