Born December 24, 1946, in Garrett County, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Nellie (Garlitz) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph, Alfred, Lafe, David and Roger McKenzie; and one sister, Thelma Iser.
Mr. McKenzie was a foreman for Garrett County Roads Department, retiring after 43 years of service. He was a farmer and logger with his father and a partner in Regis McKenzie Trucking. He loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting and trips to Colorado and Disney.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonita Kay (Steinly) McKenzie; two sons, Regis F. McKenzie, Jr. and Jeff A. (Teresa) McKenzie; one daughter, Laura McKenzie; one brother, Olin McKenzie; three sisters, Helen Resh, Martha Faidley and Ora Keister; six grandchildren, Christopher and Justin McKenzie, Cody (Jessica Deal) Weimer, Kaitlynn (Tony) Sines, Olivia Rose (Lily) Moore and Jason Moore; four great-grandchildren, Owen and Brayden Weimer, Ashlynn Townshend and Madilynn Sines; four step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon, Amanda and Rebecca Folk; one step-great grandson, Brandtlee Miltenberger.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Garrett County, for the great care provided to Regis.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 1-2 p.m. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.
