***********************************************************FROSTBURG — Roger Michael McKenzie, 61, Frostburg, succumbed to his recent illness at his home surrounded by his family and many friends, Monday, March 5, 2012.

Born March 20, 1950, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Thomas and Nellie (Garlitz) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Patrick, Ralph, Joseph and Lafe McKenzie; two brothers-in-law, James Iser and James Fadeley.

Roger was a self-employed as half owner and business partner in McKenzie Brothers Farming, Logging and Lumber, with his brother Olin for 44 years. He was a lifelong beef cattle farmer whose beef has been sold at Wayne's Meats in Keyser, W.Va. and Fort Ashby, W.Va., for many years. His heart was always in farming and he cherished his many friends and large family. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg and Garrett County Farm Bureau. Roger was known for being a person that would do anything for anyone who asked. He will be greatly missed by so many.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Lee (Lancaster) McKenzie, whom he married on Feb. 7, 1970; a son, Darren McKenzie, Frostburg; a daughter, Christine McKenzie and husband, Bill Swauger, Frostburg; daughter-in-law, Elly McKenzie, Frostburg; three brothers, David McKenzie and wife, Doris, Regis McKenzie and wife, Bonnie and Olin McKenzie and wife, Judy, all of Frostburg; four sisters, Thelma Iser, McCoole, Martha Fadeley, LaVale, Helen Resh and husband, Blaine "Pete", Grantsville, Ora Keister and husband, Rae, Frostburg; one granddaughter, Kayla McKenzie; two sisters-in-law, Carlene McKenzie, Zihlman, and Geneva McKenzie, Frostburg; and many nieces, nephews, friends and business acquaintances.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Christian Wake will be held on Friday at 3:45 p.m. in the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the St. Ann Catholic Church, Grantsville, with Father Eric Gauchat officiating.

Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery, Avilton.
