Williemae "Billie" Dettmar was born in Rhodhiss, NC, the daughter of Henry Caswell and Mary Thomas Dettmar. She married Bertsey Caleb Gibbs on December 22, 1928 in Danville, VA. After their divorce, she moved to the Washington, DC area and worked as a beautician at a salon on King Street in Alexandria, VA. She married Mark D. Rorick on December 27, 1933 in Alexandria, VA, and worked as a civilian employee of the Navy throughout the rest of her career. She was an accomplished needlewoman and gardener. She was survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Rorick Hilton, and three grandchildren.
