CUMBERLAND — Gracine Alice Golden, 93, of Cumberland, presently residing in Pearland, Texas, with her son Jeffrey R. Golden and his wife, Trisha, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at the Tuscany Village in Texas.
Born in Cumberland, on Aug. 29, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Edith (Fergerson) Schade. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey R. Golden; son, Ronald Harvey Golden; daughter, Linda A. Golden; sisters, Pearl Shipley and husband, Tom, and Pauline Perkins; brother, Robert Schade; brothers-in-law, William Brooks, Jack Golden and wife, Esther, and Ross Golden and wife, Audrath; sisters-in-law, Annalea Roberts and husband, Fred, Eleanora McKnight and husband, Robert, and Jean Zapf and husband, William.
Gracine was a 1943 graduate of Fort Hill High School. Following high school, she was employed at the Celanese Corporation before becoming a wife and mother. Gracine enjoyed cooking and baking. Christmas was a very special time for her, and she loved to make cookie trays that she gave to all of her holiday visitors.
Besides Jeff and Trisha, she is survived by her sister, Wilda Brooks, Glen Burnie; brother, Richard Schade and wife, Rose, Bedford, Pa.; brother-in-law, Jack Perkins; sister-in-law, Florence Schade, Cumberland. Once she moved to Texas, Gracine became very close to her daughter-in-law's nephews and niece, Zachary, Joshua, and Alexis Castillo, that fondly referred to her as "Gi Gi" Grandma Golden.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 15 2019, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
