Helen Hebert Abate passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the age of 87. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and resided in Kenner and St. Rose for many years before becoming a resident of Monroe, LA.

Beloved wife of the late Peter Salvadore Abate.

Loving mother of Lana Abate Haire (Paul) and Linda Abate Ventline (Randy).

Grandmother of Nicole Newman Dufrene (Andrew) and Paul Wayne Haire, Jr. (Allyson Roessler, fiancée).

Daughter of the late Helen Landry Hebert and John Joseph Hebert.

Sister of the late Rosemary Hebert Hedrick (James) and Ranella Hebert Bonura (Raymond "Buddy").

Also survived by Susan Bonura Hebert (Larry) and Sammy J. Bonura.

Helen graduated from Kenner High School in 1954 where she was active in all sports, a cheerleader and drum majorette. Helen's true love of sports was reflected by her passion for LSU football.

She coached girls' sports at Our Lady of Perpetual Help over a span of thirty years winning several district and parish championships. She was an avid bowler and won many Jefferson Parish Volleyball Championships as a member of the Delta Demons. She retired from Gulf industries in Covington, LA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd., Destrehan, LA on Monday, February 7, 2022. Visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan, LA.
