Floyd Cornford, 87, of Litchfield, died Monday, Feb. 5, 1996, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Litchfield Christian Church with the Revs. Steve Aden and Matt Wentz officiating. Burial will be at Litchfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements. He was born Aug, 10, 1908, to William and Fannie (Van) Cornford, and was educated in Litchfield. On Feb. 12, 1931, he married Claribel Kramer in Kearney. The couple lived on a farm near Litchfield. After retiring in 1990, they moved into Litchfield. He was a member of the church. Survivors include his wife, Litchfield; son Daryl, Hays, Kan.; daughters, Illa Powell, Lincoln, Erma Johnson, Manhattan, Kan., and DeEtta Schmierer, Omaha; brother Paul, Bakersfield, Calif.; sister Eleanor Hilton, Poway, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
