John Lloyd Postlethwait, Jr., 66, of Mannington, passed away at 5:59am, Monday, February 14, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Burton, WV, April 23, 1955, a son of the late John Lloyd Postlethwait, Sr. and Willavene Louis Henderson Postlethwait.
On September 15, 1976, he married Helon F. Drain Postlethwait, and they spent the next 45 years together as husband and wife.
Also surviving are six children: Shelly Martin and her husband John, Fairmont, Wendy Dawn Hundley and her husband Scott, Mannington, Kim Postlethwait, Mannington, Tanya Muzydla and her husband Kevin, Worthington, John Postlethwait and his wife Krista, Mannington, Sabrina Grubb and her husband Jason, Mannington; six grandchildren, Allyson, Caleb, Logan, Jack, Carter, and Cam; one brother, Richard Postlethwait and his wife Barb, New Plymouth, ID; his brothers and sisters in law: Bub and Jackie Drain, Becky and Sam Hamilton, Dottie Postlethwait, Steve Drain, Chris and Scott Arnett; and several nieces and nephews. John was also survived by his special friends: Tracy Talkington and family, Kenny Mick, Stephen Moore, Gary Morris, Ed Bunner and family, Bub DeMoss, and many more friends and coworkers.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Eugene Postlethwait and his father and mother-in-law, Earlen and Edna Drain.
John spent his life as a truck driver for several different companies, most recently for H&K Enterprises. He loved his racing trucks, hunting, collecting guns and knives and running his tractor. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints and a loving husband and father.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 5-8pm, Thursday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, February 18, with Branch President Bruce Hunter officiating. Interment will be in the Postlethwait Family Cemetery in Stringtown. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com.
