Carole Sue (Irwin) Foster, 83, passed away on February 15, 2022 with her family by her side.

Born to the late Orange and Eva Irwin, she was the youngest of 6 children and the last to ascend into Heaven.

At 5 years old, Sue began to live her childhood at the Indiana Soldier and Sailor's Children's Home in Knightstown Indiana, where she remained until she was 16.

At the age of 17, Sue married the late Chuck Gearlds. They had 2 children together. Tony (Eleanor) Gearlds and Kathie (Dan) Phillips. They were married for 18 years. She later married Jerry Foster. They had 1 child together, Marc (Stacy) Foster.

After their divorce in 1984, Sue remained single, focusing solely on her family.

Family was her everything. If you were lucky enough to know Sue, then you were lucky enough to know one of God's earth angels. She was always the "mom" of the neighborhood, and everyone always loved to be around her, even to the very end.

Sue worked for Community Hospital in Indianapolis in Patient Accounts for 27 years. There she made many lifelong friends, whom she considered family. She always had a good comeback for you and always had a hug waiting for you too.

Sue had 6 grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael) Camp, Anthony "AJ" (Jessica) Gearlds, Samantha Gearlds, Dani Jo (Tyler Ray) Wernert, Adrianne Foster and Alec (Abbie Daniels) Foster.

Sue also had 10 great-grandchildren: Tyler (Sarah Sichting) Smallman, Caleb Camp, Anthony Gearlds, Matthew Gearlds, Judah Gearlds, Cephas Gearlds, Charlotte Wernert, Audrie Sue Crabb, Samuel Gearlds and Lincoln Wernert. She also had one great-great grandchild, Dylan James.

She has a very large extended family. She will be greatly missed. She created a tight family and gave us more than we could have ever asked for to pass on her love and morals to our own families. She will never be forgotten. Heaven gained a beloved angel. Although we may mourn, we are happy that she is now with Jesus. Until we meet again.

A visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm with funeral service to follow on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Jessen & Keller Funeral Homes ~ Whiteland Chapel with Rev. Tony "A.J." Gearlds officiating.

Sue will be laid to rest at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Waverly, Indiana after funeral service.
