She is survived by her son and two daughters. She is also survived by her nine grand-children; her two sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family members, all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Vince and Rowena Gauthier Vince, and by her longtime companion, Gerry Russell.
Joyce's family was her greatest joy and accomplishment; she lived for them above all else. She was the kindest and sweetest person to everyone she met, with a touch of feisty. Her grandchildren will fondly remember her love of dancing, chocolate, and roast beef po-boys from the Pastime, her relentless organization, her fierce support of their athletic, academic, and musical endeavors and, of course, her nonstop singing of "her" music in the car, as well as the use of her tip card at restaurants. Joyce never slowed down and never put off until tomorrow what could be done today. She worked at LSU for over twenty-five years, most recently in the Career Services office until her retirement in 2014.
Visitation will take place on Monday, February 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Jefferson Highway, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Private burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scleroderma Research Foundation. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at
