LaVerne was born on November 27, 1927 in Kewaunee, daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Blahnik) Blahnik. She attended St. Andrew Grade School and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. On July 6, 1948 she married Robert Valentine Provot, Jr. at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on October 22, 1998. LaVerne attended Silver Lake College where she earned her IRSA Diploma. She worked for Brandt Buses as a school bus driver for special needs children, taught religion, Bible and RCIA classes. LaVerne also worked as a tailor for J.C. Penney. LaVerne had many talents including reupholstering many pieces of furniture, sewing Pat and Jean's wedding and bridesmaids' dresses. She also enjoyed tole painting on wood objects, working with ceramics. LaVerne and Bob worked as a great team remodeling their homes.
She is survived by her 7 children: Robert V. (Flora) Provot III, Kalamazoo, MI, Julie A. Provot, Manitowoc, Patricia M. Provot, Manitowoc, Jean M. Karstaedt, Manitowoc, James J. Provot Sr. (Bonnie Zeman), Two Rivers, Linda P. (Paul) Tebo, Manitowoc, Paul Provot, Allouez; 16 grandchildren: Katie (Rick) Kehoe, Brenda Pannell, Teresa Moser, Tom (Tanya) Fletcher, Rebecca (Steve) Klotz, Heather Bruechert, Corinne (Chad) Smogoleski, Sarah (Doug) Crabb, Cassandra (Aaron) Hoff, Brian (Tasha) Karstaedt, Melanie (Kelley) Thorne, Alicia Schuette, Elizabeth Cedano, James Provot Jr., Matthew (Chloe) Tebo, Laura Tebo and her fiancé Matt; 28 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Jeanette Junk, Yvonne Zimmer; Godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Frances Blahnik; husband: Robert Valentine Provot, Jr.; 1 great-granddaughter: Gina; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Ruth (Mike) DeCarlo, Beverly (Al) Orchekowski; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert and Bernice Provot, Sr.; 3 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Al (Pearl) Kehoe, Tom (Arlene) Provot, Wayne (Caroline) Provot.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 28, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Rev. Jason Blahnik will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday (today) at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.
