Possibly born 1871. Alfred was the 7th son of William Milne II and Jane Anderson. His father died in Scotland at age 45. His brothers James and Thomas immigrated to the US in 1886. In 1891, he, his mother, and his brother James's fiance immigrated to Hutchinson, KS. James and Isabella Henderson were married in Hutchinson, KS, and Alfred and Mrs. Milne lived with them. He continued to live with the family after his mother died in 1895. James and his family moved to Arkansas City, KS in 1898, and to Guthrie, OK in 1899, to Iola, KS in 1904, went back to Guthrie in between 1904 and 1907, in 1907 went to Coffeyville, KS and came back to Guthrie that year. At some point between 1908 & 1910, Alfred was placed in the Insane Asylum at Ft. Supply. He was listed on the 1900 Guthrie census as living with James and family, and listed on the 1910 census as living at Ft. Supply. In 1908 the buildings of the old fort were occupied by the Western State Hospital, an insane asylum. Alfred was born "deaf and dumb." His sister-in-law, Isabella Henderson Milne, either created or learned some form of sign language to communicate with him.

Alfred was admitted as a patient to the Western State Mental Hospital before 1910 and died there (name is on the 1910 census). Burials in the hospital section of the cemetery took place between 1908 and 1951. The listings are numbered from 1 through 953. Alfred was burial number #154. #151, #152 and #153 do not lists death dates. #150, Reuben Harrison, and #155, Mary H. Miller died in 1916, so Alfred had to have been buried in 1916.
